What is the function of School Council?

  • Establish the broad direction and vision of the school within the school's community
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of the school strategic plan
  • Develop, review and update school policies
  • Raise funds for school-related purposes
  • Approve the annual budget and monitor expenditure

Who is on School Council?

  • There are 3 categories of membership:
    • Parent members
    • DEECD employee members
    • Community (co-opted) members (optional)
  • School councillors are elected for a two-year term
  • Parent members can be nominated or self-nominate
  • An election is held if the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies
We currently have vacancies on School Council and with families finishing at Willaura Primary School as their youngest child completes Year 6, we will continue to need new families to join us on School Council. It is not a significant amount of work, coming to the meetings is the most important thing! Parents play an absolutely vital role in school governance. If you would like further information please contact the Principal, Rae Perry or School Council President John Jenkinson.
